Christopher L. Pope

Christopher L. Pope is a founding partner of Pope Mazzara & Menendez and is one of the few Florida attorneys recognized by The Florida Bar as a Board Certified Specialist in Condominium and Planned Development Law, Real Estate Law, and Construction Law. His practice is focused primarily on condominium and homeowners’ association law, with additional work in construction law and real estate matters.

Chris represents condominium and homeowners’ associations on governance, statutory compliance, collections, contract review, covenant enforcement, construction issues, and day-to-day operational matters. He also represents contractors, developers, property owners, and associations in construction-related disputes, contract negotiations, and real estate matters.

​

Before co-founding Pope Mazzara & Menendez, Chris was a partner at a long-standing Southwest Florida law firm, where he represented community associations, contractors, and property owners throughout the region. Before practicing law, Chris worked as an Area Construction Manager for a major homebuilder, managing construction in master-planned golf course communities.

That background gives him a practical understanding of construction, development, and association issues beyond the legal documents.

 

His combination of board certifications, construction background, and regular work with community association boards and managers gives him a practical perspective on the legal and operational issues facing Southwest Florida communities.

 

Chris also serves as an Adjunct Instructor at Florida Gulf Coast University, where he teaches Construction Law and Contracts. He regularly speaks to community association managers, board members, and industry groups throughout Southwest Florida on condominium and homeowners’ association law, construction issues, statutory changes, and best practices for association operations.

Chris was raised in Venice, Florida, and remains closely connected to Southwest Florida. He regularly speaks at seminars and events for community association managers, board members, and industry professionals, with a focus on practical guidance for condominium and homeowners’ association operations.

Outside of work, Chris enjoys playing golf, spending time at Lake Martin, Alabama, and supporting the Auburn Tigers
